Education Reform meeting agrees to boost academic standing of teachers

A panel from Thailand’s Office of the Education Council (ONEC) has held a meeting to discuss the academic standing of local teachers. 

Chaiyuth Punyasavatsut, a member of ONEC’s independent commission for education reform, revealed that about three quarters of the government’s education budget is dedicated to human resource development. He pointed out that education personnel are compensated according to their academic qualifications. Chaiyuth said the payment criteria are being examined and may be adjusted to reflect the current situation.
